About
Salt & Light Academy is a Hudson Valley–rooted initiative devoted to reawakening the human capacities that cannot be automated: imagination, moral perception, and the making of meaning together.
In an age when knowledge itself is becoming mechanized, we believe the work of the future will be deeply human work — learning again how to see, to listen, to gather, to sing, and to remember.
The Academy grows from a simple conviction:
Civilization is healed locally, symbolically, and communally.
Through story, song, pilgrimage, conversation, and shared creative practice, we cultivate spaces where people can rediscover attention, wonder, fellowship, and meaning.
Why Hudson?
Hudson is not simply our location. It is our teacher.
This landscape holds stories of river, labor, pilgrimage, migration, industry, and renewal. It is a place where human effort, memory, and meaning have always met.
Salt & Light Academy is rooted here because the local is where healing begins.
Salt & Light Academy exists to rekindle the inner light by which people and communities recognize who they are and why they matter.
Grounded in Christian esotericism, Hudson Valley history, and the living arts, we offer gatherings and creative practices that restore attention, wonder, fellowship, and meaning.
We believe that when imagination is enacted in community, perception changes — and with it, the future.

Our Mission
Salt & Light Academy was founded by historian and author Dr. Kevin Dann as an educational response to the changing conditions of human life in an age of machine cognition.
It grows out of decades of work in biography, local history, storytelling, and the study of imagination as a civilizational force.
We're not here to follow trends—we're here to build something timeless. With a blend of creativity, strategy, and heart, we help ideas come to life.
